Bios Cremation Urn Planting Instructions and FAQ

Bios Cremation Urn Planting Instructions and FAQ

There are several steps which can be taken to ensure that a tree grows, and this can be applied to seeds and seedlings alike:

    1. Planting zones: Always choose a tree that is appropriate or compatible with your planting zone.

    1. Sunlight and water: Each tree requires distinct levels of water and sunlight - be sure to check corresponding levels according to the tree you choose.

    1. Patience: Patience is required when growing anything, and some trees grow faster than others. All our trees are medium to fast growers, and should show signs of growth after two months.

    1. Season: The most crucial thing for growth is planting during the correct season. It is important to plant in planting seasons, which generally occur in spring, summer and early fall.

    1. Plant inside: You can also start the Bios Urn indoors, in a appropriately-sized planter.

  1. Full pack of seeds: Each Bios Urn comes with not just one, but a full packet of fresh seeds. We recommend planting a good portion of the seeds.

We offer premium seeds with extremely high germination rates. All our seeds are easy to grow, fast growing, and can be stored for extended periods of time up to a year.  In the off chance that something does occur, simply plant additional seeds on top. The Bios Urn is 100% compatible with all seeds, sprouts, and seedlings.

Instructions for using the Bios Urn

    1. Fill the lower capsule of the Bios Urn with ash (any amount – from a trace up to 220 cubic inches) The Bios Urn can be filled by a crematorium, or by the individual user. Thanks to its double capsule design, the Bios Urn locks into place, so that a crematorium can give the ash back to you, ready to plant. Once the ashes have been transferred to the lower capsule, close the lower capsule with the top capsule by sealing it into place (place the top capsule on top, and then twist it slightly to the side).

    1. Choose the planting location for your Bios Urn.

    1. Dig a hole large enough to accommodate the Bios Urn. Generally, around 15-16 inches is a good depth, with a width of 10-12 inches. Plant the Bios Urn in the hole, leaving the top of the urn a couple of fingers depth below the soil surface.

TIP: water the entire hole before you plant the Bios Urn into it, as this will help begin the process of biodegradation.

    1. Remove the seal from the top capsule, and unpack the components (soil expansion disc, growth medium, and seeds.) Place the growth medium inside the top capsule. We recommend adding additional soil from the site you are planting the Bios Urn, on top of the growth medium. Place the seeds on the very top!

    1. Cover the Bios Urn with soil from the surrounding area, and thoroughly water the spot you have planted. There should be around 1/4 inch to ½ inc of soil on top of the seeds (make sure you don´t place too much on top!) None of the Bios Urn should be exposed, it should all be covered by soil.

Simply plant your urn where you want your tree to grow and take care of it. Always plant the entire urn, which is 100% biodegradable and won’t damage the soil. You can plant your Bios Urn using a seed or a young sprout if you prefer. We generally recommend planting during the appropriate season according to your tree.

What care does Bios Urn require?

Bios Urn requires the same care as a normal tree: water, sunlight and good temperature. As such, to ensure proper growth, a site with proper soil humidity, an appropriate temperature and a few hours of sunlight must be selected. If the process requires too much care on the part of the user, a good option is to use a sprout or seedling in place of a seed during the planting process.

Does the Bios Urn have expiration date?

Bios Urn does not have an expiration date. Thanks to the materials used to create the Bios Urn, you can keep the urn indefinitely. To aid its preservation, we recommend keeping the product in a dry place away from extreme heat. If you don't plan on using your urn anytime soon, we recommend getting a Bios Urn without seed. You can add your preferred seed at the time of planting.

Can I use a Bios Urn with ash from another urn?

Bios Urn can be used with ash saved from another urn. As such, if you already have the ash in your house, you may purchase the urn and transfer the ashes into it.  You can also ask a crematorium or funeral home if they can assist you on transferring the ash.

Can I use a seedling instead of a seed?

Yes, you can elect to use a seedling, or sprout instead of a seed.

Can I plant a flower, a plant, or a bush instead of a tree?

Absolutely, the choice is yours.
